“We feed America, one sandwich at a time,” Lenny’s Sub Shop President Brent Alvord said. Pioneered by restaurateur Len Moore, Lenny’s Sub Shop began as a lone Restaurant in Memphis, Tennessee .
Fast-forward ten years. After being purchased by George Alvord and a group of investors, Lenny’s now has 135 restaurants, with 160 projected by the end of 2007. Beyond 2007, Lenny’s has another 500 stores sold and in development.
The popularity of Lenny’s Sub Shop is exploding. During a recent week, they opened eateries in California, New Mexico and Indiana, Alvord said.
So, what makes Lenny’s Sub Shop so special? Simply put, they’re different. “We’re definitely a step-up from average,” Alvord said.
“We keep it simple, but the food is fantastic,” Alvord said. From hand-sliced meat to premium toppings, dining at Lenny’s is a rare experience.
In fact they’re so unique, the dining areas don’t have trash cans! Instead, employees graciously bus customer garbage, Alvord said. What’s more, it’s not uncommon to see Lenny’s employees cheerfully refilling customer drinks, Alvord said.
Proudly upholding the motto, “ more food, more taste, more personality,” Lenny’s Sub Shop enjoys many repeat customers. Alvord shared countless stories of customer loyalty. For instance, one patron in New Mexico regularly drives a half-hour to enjoy a Lenny’s sandwich. Another customer was overjoyed with Lenny’s newest shop in Tennessee. And, there are always plenty of smiling faces at every grand opening, Alvord said.
For customers, eating at Lenny’s is a personal experience. People have an emotional tie to the restaurant, Alvord said. It’s a tremendous bond; that’s a true rarity.
“Customers love Lenny’s,” Alvord said. And often, these customers become fast friends.
With low investment costs, Lenny’s Sub Shop offers an appealing Franchise opportunity.
For example, franchise owners enjoy late-evenings free. Typically, the store’s core revenue is generated Monday thru Friday by the lunch crowd, Alvord said. In fact, often more than 60 percent of a store’s revenue is reached by 2 P.M. This means no more late nights!
“We’re recruiting franchisees that are go-getters and pro-active,” Alvord said. “We want people who are willing to roll up their sleeves,” Alvord added.
Lenny’s is seeking candidates with an entrepreneurial spirit, yet, candidates must be willing to follow a system. Prior food industry experience is desired, but not required.
On average, Lenny’s franchise owners fill the role of restaurant manager and marketing connoisseur.
A typical day in the life of an owner varies. In the morning, an owner may oversee corporate catering orders in the restaurant. Come afternoon, he or she may venture into the community spreading the Lenny’s word.
“We bend over backwards for our franchisees,” Alvord said. “We pride ourselves on taking good care of our franchisees.”
To Lenny’s, franchise owners aren’t just numbers, they’re family.
Differing from other franchisors, Lenny’s Sub Shop owners enjoy exclusive, protected areas, Alvord said. Thus, a new franchise cannot set up shop within one mile of a pre-existing Lenny’s owner.
“We allow people to build legacies,” Alvord said. “We’re not trying to over saturate them.”
In addition to protected territories, Lenny’s Sub Shop assists franchisees with unit economics. “We want to help them make money,” Alvord said.
To ease operation, Lenny’s provides its franchisees with cutting-edge technology. From online marketing campaigns to inventory management, the company supports its franchisees 100 percent.
“We provide high-technology in a low-technology business,” Alvord said. The innovative system allows owners to operate their business with ease. Custom built for Lenny’s, it allows owner to receive e-mail and web updates about is what happening at their restaurants, Alvord said.
Lenny’s has alleviated another headache – deliveries. In a typical restaurant situation, one company delivers the meat, while another transports the lettuce, tomatoes and other ingredients. With Lenny’s Sub Shop, a sole distributor delivers it all – from food to cleaning supplies. “It’s a one-stop shop,” Alvord said.
Another benefit is grand opening assistance. According to their corporate website, “ Lenny's will send a team to assist in training employees and opening the restaurant.” After a recent grand-opening one franchisee exclaimed, “I couldn’t be happier with the assistance I received.”
Best of all, that level of assistance and dedication will continue always as a Lenny’s franchise family member.
With strong customer loyalty and unbeatable franchise support , Lenny’s Sub Shop offers a stellar opportunity. Fill-out the request form below, and bring a little “Lenny’s magic” to your community.
