Pizza Patrón signs three-store development agreement for Waco, Temple and Killeen


Pizza Patrón, the premier Latino pizza brand, has executed a development agreement with Michael Moore, Michael Moore Sr., and Brian Norvell to develop three stores in Waco, Temple and Killeen.

The partnership plans to open the first unit in Waco, and currently has its brokerage firm, RTS Real Estate Services, conducting a site search. Due to the concept’s streamlined operations, only approximately 800 to 1400 square feet will be required.

“I’ve worked in the Restaurant industry a long time,” said Norvell. “And, I can really appreciate the simplicity of this operation. I’ve worked in restaurants with hundreds of variables to juggle and worry about. With Pizza Patrón there are only three or four variables, which really lets us focus on our business.”

Although Norvell has 17 years of restaurant experience, this is the first restaurant ownership venture for the three partners, says Moore Sr., who is a long-time entrepreneur.

“Ever since my son, Michael, and Brian Norvell graduated from college, they have been looking for a good business opportunity,” said Moore Sr. “After much due diligence, we felt that Pizza Patrón was the best concept for this market and the most thoroughly thought out business of everything we researched.”

Pizza Patrón was founded by Antonio Swad in 1986. Since they began Franchising the concept in March 2003, the brand has gone from four locations to 92, either open or under development. Swad says that he attributes the growth to strong and experienced brand partners combined with a concept that fills a void in the Latino growth market.

Pizza Patrón features festive and fun carryout-only pizza stores that are community based in Spanish speaking or predominately Hispanic neighborhoods. The units are open from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 4:00 to midnight on Fridays, 12:00 p.m. to midnight Saturdays, and 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Sundays. The menu is value oriented, offering high quality, freshly prepared pizzas at very low price points. All pizza dough is made fresh throughout the evening; no preservatives are added or needed. The sauce is prepared fresh in the stores, as well, from crushed Roma tomatoes. Only 100% mzzarella is used. Whole and half pizzas are offered at prices as low as $4.99 for a large pizza with cheese and one topping and $3.49 for the same half pizza. A large deluxe pizza with everything is only $6.99.
