Franchise News Release: (Dec-20-1999)
MIDHURST, Ontario (December 20, 1999) - The Hon. Robert Runciman, Minister of Consumer and Commercial Relations, tabled his Ministry's proposed Franchise legislation yesterday. Minister Runciman has agreed to hold public hearings in January and February in order to refine the Bill's content. The Canadian Alliance of franchise Operators (CAFO) invites all existing and former franchisees to make their voices heard at these hearings by appearing or sending in written submissions. Anyone interested in participating is encouraged to contact CAFO as soon as possible. Expert witnesses in the fields of law, business administration and economics will be testifying so that Ontario's 40,000 franchisees will achieve the protection they deserve. CAFO will also be inviting specific franchise system owners to appear before the all-party committee. Additional information will be available on CAFO's web site when available www.cafo.net.
