Dwyer Group Names Retired McDonald's Executive Burton Cohen To Board of Directors

Burton D. Cohen, retired Senior Vice President and Chief Franchising Officer for McDonald's Corporation, has been elected to the Board of Directors of The Dwyer Group (Nasdaq:DWYR), effective immediately.

"Burt, whose business and legal expertise resulted in one of the most respected careers in the world of franchising, will be invaluable to The Dwyer Group as we move forward in our national and international expansion," said Dina Dwyer-Owens, President and CEO of The Dwyer Group.

McDonald's, with more than 5,000 franchisees who own and operate 75 percent of the nearly 25,000 restaurants in 115 countries, is considered a textbook franchising success. Cohen, who retired after 35 years with the company, was responsible for directing Franchise activities worldwide. Prior to becoming Chief Franchising Officer, Cohen was Assistant General Counsel and Director of the corporate legal department.

His additional activities and recognitions include: Adjunct Professor of Management & Strategy, Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University; Board of Directors, Goodwill Enterprises Development Corporation; Vice Chair, franchise Relations Committee, International Franchise Association; American Bar Association Forum on Franchising; Who's Who in America; and Who's Who in American Law.

"I am delighted to be joining the Dwyer Group, a world class franchising organization, and look forward to participating in the exciting growth that lies ahead for the Company and its franchisees," said Cohen.

A native of Chicago, Cohen replaces outgoing board member Jim Sirbasku who has resigned from The Dwyer Group Board of Directors to devote more time to his company. Sirbasku, CEO of Profiles International, Inc., one of the nation's leading pre-employment assessment companies, served on the Board for nine years.

"Jim's service on the Board has been outstanding," Dwyer-Owens said. "His contributions are too many to name, and his dedication to our company's mission to be a world-class leader in service will be appreciated forever." Sirbasku will continue to be available in an advisory role, Dwyer-Owens added.
