Twenty-Nine Young Artists Named Finalists in Deck the Walls National Art Contest for Children

Twenty-nine young artists from across the United State have been named finalists in the first Deck The Walls Kids Masterpiece Contest. The artists are state winners in the national competition that will award a free trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla., as the grand prize.

The public is invited to vote for their favorite entry online from December 3 through 13. The Grand Prize winner and nine runners up will be announced December 16.

The finalists, selected from more than 240 entries, range in age from 21 months to 12 years old and represent a wide range of styles.

"I am amazed at the exceptional talent among the entries," said artist Tom DuBois, one of judges. "They are getting effects at a very young age that I have been trying to master for years. I'm very impressed. I wish I had that same skill level when I was their age."

"I'm astounded at the many different approaches," said judge Stephanie Allen. "I was really surprised with some of their uses of color and their technical skills."

"It does my heart good to see parents and teachers encouraging their children to pursue their talents and discover the excitement of creating art," added Deck The Walls COO Connie Williams. "We hope the public will go to our web site and view these interesting creations and vote for their favorite."

Children from across the United States were invited to submit an original piece of art or a reproduction of their art to Deck The Walls. A panel of judges selected one finalist from each state from which an entry was received.

All finalists will have their artwork professionally framed by Deck The Walls using materials from the Framerica® Kid Stuf' line. Selected entries will also be transferred to canvas courtesy of Old Grange Graphics. The nine national runners up will receive art activity books in addition to having their artwork framed.
