Franchise News Release: Colorado Springs, CO - (Nov-1-2005) Woody's Chicago Style Franchise Feeds Cast, Crew and Volunteers For Extreme Makeover, Home EditionWoody’s Chicago Style Franchise Owners Linda Tims and her brother, David Frates operate a kiosk inside the American Furniture Warehouse in Colorado Springs. They have been operating their family-owned business since February of this year. One day this month Dave’s wife, Dawn noticed an entourage in the store from the hit TV show “Extreme Makeover, Home Edition”. Being a big fan, she alertly approached the group inquiring about their presence and offering up the daily special. It turns out the show was building a home in the small town of Peyton, Colorado, just east of Colorado Springs. This conversation quickly transformed into an offer from the production staff of the show to solicit the franchise to help serve the volunteers and production staff the best Hot Dog on the planet, Woody’s Chicago Style. Being the opportunist that she is, Linda immediately contacted the Woody’s home office to solicit their help. They complied by donating two carts that could be used to serve the product. Having only a few days to get organized, Linda and Dave quickly jumped at the opportunity and organized their crew, scouted the location and purchased the product that they would need. Saturday, July 16th came quickly. The Woody’s caravan left Dave’s house, which just happened to be within a few miles of the construction site, at 5:30 pm. They arrived at the site shortly thereafter and were ready to serve by 7:00 pm. During the next few hours Linda and her crew served Woody’s Chicago Style hot dogs to over 300 cast, crew members and volunteers of the hit TV show “Extreme Makeover, Home Edition”. Thanks go out to this franchise for the foresight to seize this opportunity and willingly donate the resources to take part in this event. Quoting a comment from Dave: “In business when this type of opportunity presents itself, you need to do whatever it takes to participate. The minimal cost we have incurred by partaking in this will bring in far more benefits to our business down the road. Everyone that had one of our hot dogs tonight now knows about our business. This kind of community effort far exceeds any money we could spend on advertising, and besides, this event benefits a great cause! I would do this every week if I could.”
Please make sure you visit Linda and Dave the next time you are near American Furniture Warehouse in Colorado Springs and thank them for their fantastic community service. This effort will certainly prove to be a successful endeavor to not only Linda and Dave, but also the entire Woody’s Chicago Style system! The show will air sometime in the fall of this year.
