Wingstop announces comp store sales increase of 13.6%

Flynn also said that Wingstop's total sales are up 53% fom last year. The Wingstop chain now has weekly system-wide sales over $1.25 million. Annualized, these numbers put the chain on track to surpass $65 million.

In July, Wingstop was ranked #3 in sales growth in Restaurants & Institutions 'Top 400' list.

The Wingstop chain recently signed football great and long-time customer, Troy Aikman, as its national spokesman. Flynn says that sales spiked the week of the announcement and that he hopes to see more of the same.

"We are excited about our partnership with Troy Aikman," said Flynn. "His influence and appeal are far reaching, and we obtained hard proof of that in our increased sales numbers this past week."

The Wingstop chain offers restaurants with a nostalgic, aviation-themed atmosphere where the sole focus is on chicken wings. Wingstop features eight proprietary wing flavors, including Original Hot, Cajun, Atomic, Mild, Teriyaki, Lemon Pepper, Hawaiian Barbeque and Garlic Parmesan. The wings are always made-to-order and served steaming-hot. Customers also choose from a variety of 28 domestic and imported beers, wine coolers, soft drinks and homemade side dishes: fresh-cut seasoned fries, bourbon baked beans, pearl potato salad, vegetable sticks, rolls and assorted dipping sauces.

Wingstop currently has 136 restaurants in operation with 130 under development in 22 states. Entrepreneur magazine ranked Wingstop as number one in the chicken wing category and number five in the 'Top 25 New Franchises' ranking in 2003.
