Wingstop Guests Raise $30,000 for Feeding America during Three-Week Campaign

America’s wings are truly Feeding America. Wingstop recently completed a three-week partnership campaign with Feeding America, collecting $30,000 to benefit the national charity – $5,000 beyond the Restaurant chain’s original goal.

Throughout the campaign Wingstop invited guests to donate loose change or any dollar amount in 200 participating restaurants across the country. Through these guest donations Wingstop raised $30,000 which will be used to support Feeding America, the largest charitable domestic hunger-relief organization in the U.S.

Last fall Wingstop selected Feeding America as its national charity of record and committed to provide a minimum of $50,000 annually to the organization. A campaign in late 2008 raised more than $24,000, and, to date, Wingstop Corporate, employees, franchisees and guests have raised more than $54,000, surpassing the first year commitment.

“It just goes to show, that even in a recession, people understand the need to support those who are less fortunate and give back in their local community,” Jim Flynn, president and CEO of Wingstop. “This campaign was truly driven by our guests and employees, and we want to thank them for their generous support and dedication.”

“We are so pleased that Wingstop has stepped forward in such a significant way to help raise funds for the millions of Americans who are now living on the brink of hunger,” said Ross Fraser, spokesperson for Feeding America. “Demand at our food banks is 30 percent higher than it was last year, so this donation has made a real difference.”

The Wingstop restaurant at 1801 Eastchase Parkway in Fort Worth, Texas, a company owned restaurant operated by general manager Guy Campos, collected the most overall dollars at more than $1,900. Other top locations included:

  • Wingstop at 1420 Missouri Ave. in Las Cruces, owned and operated by Charles Loflin
  • Wingstop at 3825 Crenshaw Blvd. in Los Angeles, owned and operated by Robin Kirksey and Daniel Griffin
  • Wingstop at 10841 W. Florissant Ave. in Ferguson, Missouri, operated by Brad Wilemon
  • Wingstop at 8811 Teel Parkway in Frisco, Texas, company owned and operated by general manager Sonia Barbosa

Feeding America supplies food to more than 25 million Americans each year, and supports approximately 63,000 local charitable agencies that distribute food directly to those in need. Feeding America’s agencies operate more than 70,000 programs including food pantries, soup kitchens, emergency shelters, after-school programs, Kids Cafes, Community Kitchens and BackPack Programs.

Wingstop plans to continue its partnership with Feeding America through an online campaign.
