Wingstop announces 52 consecutive weeks of positive comp store growth
James Flynn, Wingstop CEO, announced today that the chain’s same-store sales have been positive for 52 consecutive weeks, each week has topped the same week the year prior. Additionally, Wingstop’s comp store sales are up 21.9 percent year-to-date as of June 4.
Flynn says, this is the chain’s tenth anniversary and the company is still in a strong growth mode.
“Last year we were ranked number three in sales growth in Restaurants & Institutions ‘Top 400’ list; we expect that we’ll come out high on that list once again this year,” said Flynn. “With 176 restaurants currently under development, we don’t expect to slow down anytime soon.”
The chain offers restaurants with a nostalgic, aviation-themed atmosphere where the sole focus is on chicken wings. Wingstop features eight proprietary wing flavors, including Original Hot, Cajun, Atomic, Mild, Teriyaki, Lemon Pepper, Hawaiian Barbeque and Garlic Parmesan. The wings are always made-to-order and served steaming-hot. Customers also choose from a variety of 16 domestic and imported beers, wine coolers, soft drinks and homemade side dishes: fresh-cut seasoned fries, bourbon baked beans, pearl potato salad, vegetable sticks, rolls and assorted dipping sauces.
Wingstop currently has 180 restaurants in operation and over 176 under development in 25 states. In 2003, Entrepreneur magazine ranked Wingstop as number one in the chicken wing category and number five in the ‘Top 25 New Franchises’ ranking. Football great and long-time customer, Troy Aikman, is Wingstop’s national spokesman. For every specially-designed Wingstop/Aikman jersey that is sold, Wingstop contributes a portion of the proceeds to the Aikman Foundation, a charitable organization which provides financial support for the physical, psychological, social, and educational needs of children.
