Schlotzsky's Same Store Sales Climb 4.1% i 2000

Same store sales for the Schlotzsky's® Deli system climbed 4.1% fr the year 2000 over 1999, Schlotzsky's Inc. announced today.

Yearend 2000 marked Schlotzsky's sixth consecutive year of uninterrupted quarter-to-quarter positive same store sales, considered one of the longest-running streaks in the Restaurant industry, said officials.

Average weekly unit sales for the year rose to $11,425 an 8.0% icrease over 1999. Total systemwide sales for the year increased to $429.4 million, a 7.3% icrease over 1999 that resulted in a new systemwide sales record.

For the five-week period of December 2000, same store sales increased 3.0% oer the comparable period in 1999, average weekly unit sales climbed 7.0% t $10,732 and systemwide sales for the period were $38.0 million, a 4.6% icrease over the prior year.

Fourth quarter 2000 same store sales rose 1.8% cmpared to the same period in 1999. Average weekly unit sales for the quarter were $11,125, a 5.6% icrease over the comparable period in 1999. Systemwide sales for the fourth quarter were $103.4 million, a 2.9% icrease over the same period in 1999.

Sales numbers include both franchised and Company-owned restaurants in the Schlotzsky's® Deli system.

Schlotzsky's Inc., founded in Austin, Texas, in 1971, is a brand licensor and franchisor of quick-service deli restaurants featuring sandwiches served on distinctive sourdough bread, along with pizzas, salads, soups and deli items. As of Dec. 31, 2000, there were 711 Schlotzsky's® Deli restaurants open and operating in 38 states, the District of Columbia and 10 foreign countries.
