RadioShack Named One of the Top Ten Franchises for 2000

Entrepreneur Magazine has recognized RadioShack in its January 2000 issue as one of today's ten best franchise opportunities. The company was ranked 8th in the 21st Annual Franchise 500 that lists the 500 best franchises in the U.S. and Canada.

In ranking candidates, Entrepreneur Magazine considered numerous factors including financial strength and stability, growth rate, number of years in business, start-up costs and financing plans.

RadioShack offers a money-back guarantee program for franchisees who aren't completely satisfied with the program after twelve months of operation -- a plan virtually unheard of in the Franchising industry. This year, the company inaugurated the "Take Stock in Tandy" program which awarded Tandy Corporation stock to outstanding franchisees.

Riding a major growth spurt, RadioShack is halfway to its goal set in 1997 to add up to 1,000 new Franchises under the RadioShack "Select" program. This year alone, almost 200 new franchise operations have been opened in small markets and rural areas which up to now have not been served by a RadioShack company-owned store.

RadioShack launched its franchise operation in 1968. At the beginning of 2000, the company has nearly 2,000 franchise stores in the U.S. and overseas.

RadioShack, the retail operating format of Tandy Corporation, is the nation's largest and most trusted consumer-electronics retailer, and offers both on-and off-line shopping capabilities. With more than 7,000 stores and dealers, RadioShack sells more wireless telephones, telecommunications products and electronic parts and accessories than any other retailer.
