San Diego Outdoor Lighting Franchise, NiteLites, the Landscape Lighting Professionals, Dispels 6 Popular Myths about Low Voltage Lighting
NiteLites Outdoor Lighting Company has been a successful participant in the low voltage architecture and landscape lighting industry since 1998. During that period, products have evolved to a much higher quality and reliability, and the continued evolution of low voltage lighting looks bright. Low voltage lighting systems have become the foundation for the landscape and architectural lighting industry, because of the many benefits they offer - flexibility, efficiency, reliability, and safety, just to name a few. But, while the architecture and landscape lighting business has continued to improve upon the products and services offered, there are still some persistent myths that surround the outdoor lighting industry. Listed are a few of the more widespread myths, along with the actual truths to put them to rest.
Myth #1 - Low voltage lighting systems are low quality and will not last. The fact is that there is a wide spectrum of 12 voltage products available to consumers, and they range from very poor disposable lighting to high quality solid brass and copper fixtures. The lower end lighting systems are typically sold as kits or "self install" packages, and are relatively inexpensive. As might be expected, they do not last. NiteLites, and other professional lighting companies, offer high quality products complete with a warranty. NiteLites specification grade low voltage lighting fixtures are made of acid etched brass and copper, ensuring that they will not crack or peel. All of the other components in a NiteLites illumination system are designed specifically for NiteLites, and the quality is essential. The fixtures, transformers, and connectors all have a five year warranty.
Myth #2 - Low voltage lighting is not as bright as line voltage lighting.
Some people hear low voltage, and think that the lighting around their property will be dim. The fact is that low voltage lights can be two to three times brighter than line voltage lights. For design and safety issues the bulbs are available in a variety of intensities. Some low voltage lamp filaments are wound tighter so they burn brighter. And the flexibility of low voltage lighting allows for a variety of beam control options on the system. Solar lights with their faint glow, are often mistaken for low voltage lights.
Myth #3 - Low voltage lighting creates lighting pollution.
Even though low voltage lighting can create a brighter light, professional lighting designers direct the beam to minimize light pollution. In addition, light fixtures come in a wide variety of shape and sizes that are designed to highlight certain objects without infringing on other areas.
Myth #4 - Installing electrical lines through the yard creates a safety issue, especially for children and pets.
The 12 voltage lighting systems are much safer than their 120 volt counterparts. For yards, gardens, pools and other water features, low voltage lights create a beautiful glow without the risks associated with line voltage systems.
Myth #5 - Installation of an outdoor lighting system will tear up the yard. A low voltage lighting system can be installed with minimal disruption to the existing landscape. The wires do not have to be buried as deeply as they do for line voltage systems, and can be installed in most areas. In addition, should the foliage grow, or the landscape be altered, the low voltage system is easier to move to adapt to the changing conditions.
Myth #6 - All outdoor lighting companies are the same.
Nothing could be further from the truth. Lighting companies vary in the products they offer, the service they offer, and the experience they bring to the project. NiteLites fixtures, as mentioned above, are made of solid copper and brass. They are not painted, so they will not peel or chip. NiteLites offers full service, from initial contact, through installation, to ongoing maintenance. NiteLites offers a custom demonstration, free of charge. They will set up an outdoor lighting display so that a client can see the positive effects that a NiteLites lighting system can have on their property. Skilled lighting designers will custom tailor a lighting system to showcase the specific features of the property.
NiteLites only installs high quality, energy efficient, low voltage fixtures and transformers which are manufactured to exact specifications. The fixtures are made to last. NiteLites goes the extra mile for quality...even down to the kind of connectors used for wiring. The transformers, wiring connections, and fixtures feature an unconditional 5 year warranty. Most lighting companies, if they offer a warranty at all, typically only warrant against manufacturers' defects.
NiteLites will also provide a list of properties featuring their systems to illustrate examples of their work. The commercial or residential client knows in advance, what to expect from a NiteLites' lighting system. The San Diego lighting company offers complete outdoor lighting service - from planning, through installation, to a comprehensive maintenance plan, ensuring the ongoing enjoyment of its lighting application.
