Mr. Electric® Franchisee Named ?Best Electrician? in Local Newspaper Survey

Len Coursey, owner of Mr. Electric® in Fairbanks, Alaska, was recently named "Best Electrician" in the Reader's Choice Awards conducted by the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner newspaper.

"Len is truly deserving of the honor for going beyond the call of duty when it comes to helping his customers," said Rick Cross, president of Mr. Electric. "He even services accounts by airplane when necessary."

Coursey, who opened his Mr. Electric Franchise in March of 1995, has combined his strong business talent with his love for flying to offer the best and fastest electrical service and repair to his Alaskan franchise territory. As a licensed pilot and owner of a Cessna, Coursey has been known to hop in his plane in order to reach customers in remote areas outside the road system. He has one of the largest and toughest terrains in Mr. Electric's international network, covering an estimated 275,000 square miles with 60,000 people. It's roughly the size of Texas, Cross said.

"During any given year, Len's business contends with the longest days, the longest nights and the coldest temperatures of any of our franchise owners. He works in a climate so severe that the average fluorescent light bulb won't work in an unheated space," Cross said.

It is that cold weather and the close proximity to the North Pole that keep Coursey and his Mr. Electric team in overdrive. Temperatures can drop to 60 below zero, and daylight decreases to around 4 hours per day during the winter solstice.

"Customers everywhere value electricity," Cross said. "But in Alaska it is a matter of survival. Len is a great role model for our company and a prime example of why Mr. Electric is a successful national brand."
