Women’s Fitness Chain to Pack Up California Office to Centralize U.S. Franchise Support

In a “move” designed to continue its ascent into the top spot in the women’s fitness market, the new CEO of Liberty Fitness Holdings, LLC, announced today that the company will relocate its corporate operations to Austin, Texas, in order to increase its access and support to new and existing franchisees and drive national growth. The move is scheduled for Oct. 1, 2005.

Linda Burzynski, who joined Liberty Fitness as CEO in May, 2005, said the lion’s share of the current home office staff has committed to remain with the company and make the move to Austin, with the exception of two franchise sales/franchise development specialists who will maintain satellite offices in California. Burzynski, the former CEO of Austin-based CMIT Solutions, a technology solutions franchise, resides in Austin with her family and remains with CMIT in an advisory position. She said relocating Liberty Fitness to Austin is a sound strategic move for the fast growing franchise, which has 61 locations in 16 states around the country, spanning from California to New York.

“With a more centralized national location in the Central Time Zone, along with proximity to the airport and lodging, the relocation to Austin will make us infinitely more accessible to both our current and prospective franchise owners, from the initial training process to day-to-day support,” Burzynski said. “Austin has consistently been rated as one of the best places in the nation to do business. Liberty Fitness has tremendous growth potential, and being in a central spot like Austin makes sense for our vision,” Burzynski said, who projects the chain will add 1,500 plus units in the next five years.

The announcement of the move comes on the heels of the introduction of a new spa-like atmosphere for Liberty Fitness locations that focuses on individualized attention to members in a boutique environment unlike any other women’s fitness club. Founded by a woman, for women and run by women, Liberty Fitness offers a personal, relaxed environment that focuses on fitness, nutrition and wellness. In addition to the 30-minute circuit training workout featuring six-level, adjustable hydraulic strength training equipment, the clubs’ wellness components include sauna and massage amenities for members to “treat” themselves, as well as the ability to monitor their workouts and results with new technology from Polar BodyAge.

Members receive personal attention and direction from ACE certified personal trainers during each visit. As part of the nutrition element, members have access to the Liberty Fitness Diet Site, an interactive website where they can monitor their eating habits and fitness results from their Liberty Fitness workouts as well as connect with registered dieticians for advice.
