Howard Johnson Launches Spirit America Program

Howard Johnson International Inc. introduced the Howard Johnson Spirit America program, which offers special discount room rates as low as $39 per night in the U.S. to encourage consumers to get back on the road.

The Howard Johnson Spirit America rates, which range from $39 to $59 ($59 to $79 Canadian), are available from Oct. 29, 2001 through March 31, 2002, and can be booked at the brand's Internet site, by calling or through any travel agent. Travelers must specify the Howard Johnson Spirit America rate when booking to qualify for the discount. The rates are subject to availability at participating properties.

"One of the basic pleasures Americans enjoy is the ability to travel freely," said Mary Mahoney, Howard Johnson president and chief executive officer. "We encourage people to exercise their freedom to travel to visit friends and family or explore the richness of our country."

In addition to the Howard Johnson® Spirit America rate, Howard Johnson hotels provide added value and fun for families through its Kids Go HoJo® program, in which children stay free and receive a free Kids Go HoJo® and Crayola® FunPack™. Kids age 12 and younger also may enter to win a $50,000 college scholarship. No purchase is necessary.
