Glass Doctor Hires Former CEO of Independent Glass Association to be Director of Business Development

Tim Smale, former CEO of the Independent Glass Association (IGA), has been hired as Director of Business Development for Glass Doctor, the nation's leader in the auto, home and business glass replacement industry. Smale will begin his job on Sept. 6.

"Tim will be an incredible asset to the Glass Doctor team," said Robert Tunmire, president of Glass Doctor. "He brings a wealth of experience in the glass industry with him, and he has a keen sense of where Glass Doctor is headed."

Smale recently resigned after 5 1/2 years as CEO of the IGA to pursue other interests. While at the IGA, an organization made up of independent glass shop owners from across the country, he helped the association develop programs and services for members, grow the national convention, and pool resources as a larger group.

"Many of the goals that Tim worked towards with the IGA are inherent business advantages to being part of a large national Franchise system like Glass Doctor, " Tunmire said. "He saw an immediate connection to what we are doing on a national level, and as the Director of Business Development he also knows what can be added to improve our position even further."

Prior to the IGA, Smale was director of sales and then promoted to quality improvement manager for Pilkington, one of the world's largest manufacturers of glass and glazing products for building, automotive and related technical markets. Before that, he worked in sales, marketing and distribution for Dana Corporation, a global leader in the design, engineering and manufacture of value-added products and systems for automotive, commercial and off-highway vehicles.

Smale lives in Idyllwild , Calif. He holds a bachelor's degree in business from the University of Toledo and an MBA from Bowling Green State University .
