FACES - Canadian Cosmetic Franchise Prepares to FACE a New Nation
FACES, an innovative Canadian player in the $250 billion worldwide cosmetics industry with its own line of branded personalized products and spa services in a private retail setting, has assembled a management team of experienced U.S. Franchise executives to "change the face" of retail cosmetics in America.
Determined to give the U.S. retail cosmetic industry a total makeover, FACES recently announced plans to expand the franchise to the United States and has appointed Deno Scoular, known for his 18 years of success in growing leading U.S. optical and indoor tanning brands, to spearhead the U.S. franchise development team. Established in 1974 in Ontario, Canada, FACES now operates 54 locations throughout Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Ireland and the U.S. and recently went public in the United Kingdom.
"Going public provided funding that allowed us to establish our U.S. headquarters and build our first corporate prototype training store in Dallas' premiere mall, NorthPark Center," Scoular said.
Already FACES has a recently opened franchise location in Arlington, TX, a suburb of Dallas, and Scoular sees huge potential for additional franchise growth. In fact, he projects to have 65 FACES franchise locations developed in the United States by July 2008, with 20 of those opened by the summer of 2007.
"Aside from its prestige product offerings, FACES takes a customized and personalized approach to customer service. For example, we offer customers the ability to customize shade combinations in order to meet their personal preferences," Scoular said. "We believe that this tailored approach to makeup and skin care is unlike anything that American consumers have experienced before in a retail cosmetic store."
FACES is widely recognized for its one-on-one personal services for customers and a versatile prestige product line that caters to women of all skin tones and age groups all at retail prices 10 percent to 20 percent less than most competitors.
Its strategy for successful franchise expansion in the United States focuses on finding qualified franchise candidates with previous retail and franchise experience who want to diversify their existing portfolios by opening multiple units in their desired market. Although FACES is offering single-unit opportunities, in order to meet aggressive growth projections, their preference is to deal with existing area developers of other retail chains.
Product costs are nearly half of those of some of our competitors. Material costs for franchisees are further reduced by the introduction of spa services, which carry extremely low overhead. Overall start up costs for a FACES retail store range from $250,000-$300,000.
"Our products and services are in high demand in a booming market segment. Combining the sale of cosmetics, skin care, and anti-aging products with spa services, such as facials, waxings, manicures and pedicures all under one roof in a retail store setting is unique," Scoular said. "FACES is a truly beautiful franchise opportunity."
Established in 1974, FACES offers prestige FACES branded cosmetics for every demographic, skin care and anti-aging products and a variety of aesthetic spa services. FACES point of difference is its dedication to customization and personalization as well as offering a tremendous array of colors and shades to choose from. FACES now has 54 locations, the majority of which are franchised, in five countries and is now embarking upon an aggressive franchise expansion plan in the United States. The company projects 65 more locations within the United States by 2008.
