Franchise News Release: Waco, TX - (Dec-9-2003) The Dwyer Group Donates 10,050 Pounds of Food for Thanksgiving Food DriveThe Dwyer Group set a new company record in its annual Food for Families food drive, donating 10,050 pounds of food to the Waco-based Caritas agency to feed needy families of Central Texas. "Once again our associates have let their actions speak for themselves at this important time of the year," said Dina Dwyer-Owens, president and CEO of The Dwyer Group. "Giving back to our community has always played an important role for The Dwyer Group, and we never want to see someone go hungry." Each year, military Hummer vehicles on loan from the National Guard arrive at The Dwyer Group's corporate headquarters the week of Thanksgiving to load the hundreds of boxes of food donated and collected by Dwyer Group employees. The Dwyer Group matches associates' contributions and, year after year, the associates come through for the community. The food then is delivered to Caritas, a locally owned and operated non-profit agency, where it gets distributed to needy people in the area.
