Domino's Pizza Names New Chief Executive Officer

ANN ARBOR, Michigan (March 12, 1999) -- Domino's Pizza, Inc., the world's leading pizza delivery company and second largest privately held Restaurant chain, announced today that David A. Brandon has been named Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Brandon replaces founder Thomas S. Monaghan, who retired in December 1998 after selling his majority interest in Domino's Pizza, Inc. to Bain Capital, a Boston-based private equity investment firm.

Brandon, 46, most recently Chairman, President and CEO of Valassis Communications, Inc. (NYSE: VCI), the nation's leading sales promotion company, brings broad-based sales and marketing experience in a wide range of industries and a proven track record of achieving exceptional standards of growth and profitability. From the time Brandon joined Valassis 20 years ago through his 10 years as CEO, Valassis grew from a family-owned business with 75 employees and $30 million in sales into a publicly traded industry leader. Today Valassis employs 1,300 employees and has a total enterprise value exceeding $2 billion. Under Brandon's leadership, Valassis was named three consecutive times as one of The 100 Best Companies to Work for in America.

Before becoming President and CEO of Valassis Communications in 1989, Brandon served in a number of key positions during his 20 years with the Company, including Fast Food Sales Coordinator, National Sales Manager, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Brandon was named Chairman in 1997.

Prior to joining Valassis Communications in 1979, Brandon worked in Procter & Gamble's Food Products Division, where he earned increasing responsibility in sales and sales management positions. Brandon is a graduate of the University of Michigan where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1974 and was a member of three Big 10 championship football teams under Coach Bo Schembechler. Brandon serves on numerous corporate and nonprofit boards, including three Michigan-based companies: O/E Automation, Edward Brothers, Inc., and Rock Financial. Brandon is Chairman of the Board of Trustees for St. Mary's Hospital in Livonia, MI, and a board member of the Purple Rose Theatre Company and the Michigan Thanksgiving Day Parade Company. In 1998, Brandon won a statewide election to the University of Michigan's Board of Regents for an eight-year term.

Brandon was selected following a nationwide search conducted by Heidrick & Struggles, a leading global executive search firm specializing in CEO and Chairman assignments.
