Dermacare Franchise of Brooklyn Heights Doctors Become Members of Prestigious American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery

Two physicians who own and operate Dermacare of Brooklyn Heights, located at 122 Atlantic Ave., in Brooklyn, N.Y., were granted membership in the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS). Based on their achievements in the medical field and especially their experience and safety record working with medical lasers, Ngozi Nwankpa-Keshinro, M.D., F.A.C.O.G., and Oyenike Kilanko, M.D., F.A.C.O.G., fulfilled all the qualifications for membership and were approved by the ASLMS board of directors. "Through attendance at conferences and the ongoing education the Society offers, we will have more opportunities to stay abreast of the latest technologies and safety standards within the medical-laser field," says Dr. Nwankpa-Keshinro, who, with Dr. Kilanko, opened the Dermacare clinic in January 2006. "The knowledge that we gain through this exposure will of course benefit our skin-care clients. Our focus - and the entire Dermacare philosophy - are built around safe procedures and satisfied patients."

Dr. Nwankpa-Keshinro is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is also a trained, certified, medical professional in aesthetic laser procedures and other aesthetic treatments such as BOTOX® and dermal filler injections. Her aim is to understand each client's condition and goals and help each client attain their skin care objectives through a systematic approach that emphasizes correction, prevention and healthy skin care.

Dr. Kilanko is also board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Her formal training in aesthetic and cosmetic medicine includes laser procedures and its technology, BOTOX® and dermal filler injections, microdermabrasion and chemical peels. Dr. Kilanko has a special interest in skin hyperpigmentation and acne treatments. "Healthy appearing skin is a confidence builder and that confidence can change lives," she said.

ASLMS conducts an annual scientific meeting for the multidisciplinary exchange of information on the latest discoveries, applications and research involving medical lasers and publishing the world's foremost laser journal, Lasers in Surgery and Medicine. It also establishes practice guidelines and safety standards for physician and nonphysician use of lasers.
