Franchise News Release: Denver, CO - (Apr-28-2005) D.O.G. DEVELOPMENT, LLC UNLEASHES 50th FRANCHISE AGREEMENTDoggy Day Care/Boarding Concept Reaches Milestone, Plans International Growth With Americans spending $32.4 billion on their pets in 2003, twice the amount spent just 10 years ago, one dog day care and boarding Franchise is high-tailing it across the country. D.O.G. Development, LLC, the company that Franchises Camp Bow Wow, the first national franchise concept in the dog boarding and day care industry, recently announced the signing of its 50th franchise agreement. Selling its first franchise in August 2003, the company plans to add to its 11 existing Camps with 35 locations in operation nationwide by the end of 2005. Regions targeted include Florida, California, Texas, North and South Carolina, New Jersey, Ohio, Michigan, Nevada, and Missouri. In addition to its explosive growth in the U.S., the franchise has major development plans to enter Canada in 2005. Camp Bow Wow Canada, headquartered in Calgary, will oversee regional development in Western Canada with at least 15 locations within the next two years, creating more than 100 jobs. "To millions of people, dogs are more than just pets - they are members of the family," said Heidi Flammang, president and founder of D.O.G. Development, LLC. "Hectic schedules force people to seek alternatives to leaving dogs home alone or placing them in sterile kennel environments. We give our "campers" as much love, care and attention as they get at home with their families." With more than 43 percent of U.S. households owning a dog, the demand for day care and boarding facilities that offer quality, personalized service is on the rise. D.O.G. Development, LLC was founded to provide a fun, safe and camp-like environment for dogs while their owners are at work or traveling, giving them peace of mind that their pooches can play all day and sleep the night away in climate controlled luxury. The combination of made-to-order service and the support of a franchise system has been a winning formula for the business's expansion. In 2004, Flammang began targeting business travelers with the opening of the first Camp Bow Wow airport location, only 10 minutes from Denver International Airport. The facility, which sold out completely for the Thanksgiving holiday before it officially opened, has been so successful that Flammang is using the strategy to expand the franchise nationwide and is looking into additional accommodations for business travelers, such as a shuttle service to and from the airport or late-night pickup for fliers whose planes are delayed. Dubbed the "land of happy dogs," Camp Bow Wow locations provide all of the services a dog and dog owner need or want, including vet services, grooming, day care, overnight boarding and retail items. What separates the franchise from the rest of the pack are the details: canines play in different themed indoor and outdoor areas, like The Lodge or Fort Rocks; everyone gets a Campfire Treat before lights-out; campers receive the same food as they do at home and any necessary medicine at no extra charge, and "siblings" can even sleep in the same bed. Like modern child day care centers, Camp Bow Wow facilities employ web cam technology, enabling clients to see exactly what their pets are up to day and night. According to Flammang, the company's Camp Web Cams, accessible through website, log more than 1,000 hits each month. A Legacy of Love More than a decade ago, Flammang and her husband Bion faced leaving their own dogs in a kennel during vacation. They found that many traditional kennels lacked warmth, amenities, vet services and social activities for pets. Inspired, the couple envisioned the kind of place they would create - a fun, safe "camp" for dogs. At the same time, the pet care industry was booming and a new concept called "dog day care" was starting to pop up around the country. In 1994, Heidi and Bion finished a business plan and began their search for the first Camp Bow Wow location. Before the first location was selected, Bion died tragically in a plane crash. Committed to realizing the dream that she and her husband nurtured, Heidi continued to take steps to launch their business. With family and friends by her side, and her husband serving as inspiration, the first Camp Bow Wow location opened in 2000. A Franchise Opportunity to Bark About D.O.G.
