Children's Orchard Kicks Off "In Your Hands" Fund Raiser for November National Adoption Month

Each year some 110,000 abused, neglected and special needs kids desperately wait for someone to adopt them. Last year, Children's Orchard, (CO), an Ann Arbor based upscale kids resale/retail Franchise with over 100 stores nationwide and its customers, helped to raise funds that was part of a national effort to place over 800 children with the Family Builders Adoption Network, (FBAN). FBAN is a non-profit association with 12 member agencies in 10 states.

To focus on the needs of these children, Children's Orchard is launching "In Your Hands," a fundraising campaign that coincides with National Adoption Month celebrated in November.

Customers who visit participating Children's Orchard stores can make a cash contribution or buy a $5.00 CO/FBAN coupon book valued at $100 worth of discounts on Children's Orchard merchandise. One hundred percent of the net proceeds are donated to FBAN.

"We believe every child deserves a home," says Walter F. Hamilton, Children's Orchard president and CEO. "There are a lot of special families waiting to adopt these children if they just knew about them. To help facilitate these adoption, we're working hard to raise dollars and increase awareness of FBAN with our 'In Your Hands' fund-raiser."

According to Hamilton, approximately 30,000 children per year age out of foster care never having the opportunity to be part of a permanent family.

Since many of the FBAN agencies are in the same markets with Children's Orchard stores, Hamilton hopes to help raise $10,000 to $20,000 within the next year to help more special needs kids become adopted.
