Butler Capital Promotes Colburn to Head Franchise Finance Unit

Brian Colburn, former business development manager, has been named managing director of the Franchise Finance Division at commercial lender Butler Capital Corporation.

Colburn, who joined the Hunt Valley (MD)-based lender in late 2004, takes over the reins of Butler's largest division that accounted for fully 25 percent of the company's new loan volume in the past fiscal year.

Butler's franchise Finance team provides fixed-term loans and leases to franchise owners across the U.S., specializing in the casual dining, pizza, bakery/coffee, drycleaning, and golf instruction niche markets, among others. Butler loans finance business acquisitions, expansions and remodeling, new stores, and debt refinancing.

Colburn joined Butler after a 25-year career in sales which included a seven-year run as president of the Colburn Corporation, a retail marketing firm in Somerdale, NJ, where he developed business leads, obtained financing, located sites, purchased equipment, designed store layouts, and created localized marketing strategies for new franchisees.

Colburn earned a degree in business administration from Millersville University in 1980. He resides in the Loveton section of Baltimore County.
