PRESS RELEASE: McLean, VA - (Jul-22-2008)

Bookkeeping Express Makes List of Top Washington-Area Franchises

Bookkeeping Express Enterprises LLC, the Washington area’s newest franchise, tied for the #10 listing of locally-based franchises in the July 18th edition of the Washington Business Journal. The list ranks locally-based franchises by the number of metro-Washington-area locations. Bookkeeping Express has seven area locations, tying with the Austin Grill, which was founded in 1988.

Currently, Bookkeeping Express is offering bookkeeping services through locations in McLean, Reston, Arlington, and Leesburg, Virginia; Rockville, Maryland, and Washington, D.C.

Three entrepreneurs in McLean purchased Bookkeeping Express, a national provider of bookkeeping services, in 2007, moved its headquarters to McLean and launched a national franchising system in mid-June 2008.

The new owners of Bookkeeping Express are Greg Jones, an entrepreneur in the franchising field, who also owns the development rights for Five Guys Burgers & Fries in central Florida; Merritt Green, the Founder and Managing Partner of General Counsel, P.C.; and Robert Stocker, a management consultant.

“We plan to revolutionize bookkeeping in America!” says CEO Jones. “In a business world where payroll is dominated by national companies like ADP and tax preparation is synonymous with H & R Block, we see Bookkeeping Express becoming the recognized provider for business bookkeeping services throughout the U.S.”

Certified Bookkeepers
Two things make the services of Bookkeeping Express unique: They charge by the transaction, rather than by the hour, so that customers know upfront the cost of their services. Also, they employ only Certified Bookkeepers.

“Often when you hire a bookkeeper, you have no idea of their training, certification or integrity,” says COO Stocker. “Every Bookkeeping Express bookkeeper undergoes a thorough training program. They are certified by the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers and insured.”

Operating as an authorized QuickBooks affiliate, Bookkeeping Express offers full-service bookkeeping services for businesses.

About the New Bookkeeping Express Owners
Greg Jones, President & CEO of Bookkeeping Express, has been a partner in Garrettson-Jones Properties, in Fairfax, Virginia, since 2001. Garrettson-Jones Properties specializes in real estate and Five Guys Burgers and Fries franchise development in Florida.  From 2003 through 2006, Jones was Vice President of Sales for Cavalier Business Communications, in Richmond, Virginia, and from 2006 until 2008, Jones was Vice President of Sales for Fransmart, LLC, a franchise development company in Alexandria, Virginia.

Robert Stocker, President and Chief Operating Officer of Bookkeeping Express, has been the President of Stocker Advisory Services in Bethesda, Maryland, since 2003. His firm provides general business consulting and advisory services. Prior to that, Stocker was President and CEO of Transaction Verification Systems in Falls Church, Virginia.

Merritt Green, Chairman of Bookkeeping Express, founded the law firm, General Counsel, P.C. in McLean, Virginia, in 2004. Prior to that, Green was an attorney with the Washington, D.C., based law firm of Venable, LLP.

More about Bookkeeping Express
Bookkeeping Express is the only franchise company focusing solely on bookkeeping services nationwide.  The new franchising model offers home-based or office location options, a full training and certification program and local and national marketing and public relations.  It is planned that the cost to purchase a franchise will be substantially below the national average.

Coming out of Northern California in 1987, Bookkeeping Express started out selling services to small businesses through a licensing model.  At one time, there were 150 Bookkeeping Express offices nationwide.  Currently, there are 27 existing licensee locations across the United States.
