Franchise News Release:
Dallas, TX - (Dec-7-2000)
ASI Sign Systems, Inc. Names Matthew Buksbaum as President
Matthew Buksbaum has been named President of ASI Sign Systems, Inc. The appointment, announced today by Finn Drachmann, President of MODULEX and chairman of the board of ASI, is effective immediately. Buksbaum succeeds Lance Utterback, who resigned as President to resume full-time management of his Dallas-based company, Barton Graphics, Inc. Utterback will remain in an advisory role through year end.
In announcing Buksbaum's appointment, Drachmann remarked, "We are pleased to have Matt Buksbaum taking the helm. We are at a very important and exciting juncture in the history of the company. Lance Utterback helped to bring us to this point, and Matt will now lead our efforts to strengthen our brand in existing markets and establish our presence in new markets. Over the last seven years, Matt has proven the value of his skill, vision and leadership by bringing innovation to our marketing efforts, and in consistently delivering positive results."
Among his many accomplishments at ASI, Buksbaum is credited with completely restructuring the way ASI markets its products. Using a "push-pull" methodology, he developed sales programs and marketing campaigns that successfully built brand equity in end-user markets, while strengthening the ASI brand and the company's relationships within the architectural and design community. Sales during his seven-year tenure have more than doubled.
As President, Buksbaum will be charged with maximizing the company's North American presence, significantly increasing ASI's distribution, and expanding into South and Central American markets. "It's a challenge I look forward to, " he explained. "We have worked hard to build a successful organization on the merits of strong brand equity, outstanding product quality, and a sterling reputation for customer service. We're ready to take it to the next level - and to new markets."
Buksbaum has been involved with architectural signage for 16 years. He began his career with Kroy, Inc., selling graphics equipment to architects and engineers. Later, he developed the industry's first in-house signage updating program. While at Kroy, he quickly rose to become a general manager in the organization before joining ASI in 1992 as a consultant. At ASI, he launched the company's patented, flagship product, the ASI InfinityTM Modular System, and helped engineer the ASI-Modulex merger the following year. In 1993, Buksbaum was named vice-president of marketing.
Buksbaum is frequently quoted in trade journals about industry trends. He has also authored many articles for industry publications, and co-authored a chapter on wayfinding for the architectural textbook, Commercial Relocation. He holds a B.S. degree in marketing from Arizona State University.
ASI Sign Systems, Inc. is North America's leading provider of comprehensive wayfinding systems. With roots going back to 1965, the company pioneered the architectural signage industry, and has led the industry in product and service innovations since that time. ASI's North American sales network comprises over 40 affiliates located in key markets across the United States and Canada. ASI is a member of the Modulex Group, a leading signage firm based in Europe and associated with the LEGO Group, the manufacturer of the well-known LEGO toys and educational products. The ASI-Modulex affiliation affords the company a leading position in the architectural signage market around the world.
