Atlanta native Marcus Johnson’s love of computers stretches all the way back to the fifth grade.  It was then that he first became enthralled with the endless possibilities of computer programming, which prompted him to engage in complex activities such as managing an online bulletin board (at a time when the internet and online communities were quite primitive).  Because of his advanced understanding of computers, it made perfect sense for him to pursue additional high-tech knowledge during his college years.  In 1994 he graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a joint degree consisting of a B.S. in Computer Information Systems and a B.A. in Business Administration. 

Post college, Johnson became employed as a paid intern with MCI, who trained him in various cutting-edge technologies.  After his training was complete, he was given the task of passing on that knowledge to the staff of MCI’s call centers.  When his internship came to an end, MCI hired him full time as an Information-Technology (IT) Specialist for their network-support department.  Over the next eight years with MCI, Johnson was promoted into several management positions and was instrumental in developing an internet-based method of training new customer service representatives.  After departing MCI, he moved back to Atlanta and joined a small company that provided internet-based medical-benefit administration.  During a three-year period he performed a bevy of duties, including database development, web application development, data migration support, and network administration.  When Johnson began looking for the next chapter in his career, he was excited to discover that Geeks On Call® had Franchise Opportunities available in the Atlanta metro area.
