5700-Square-Foot Unit, Fourth of Round Table's New Boise Restaurants, Could Be Called System's First "Skate-Up" Restaurant

BOISE, Idaho (April 13, 1999) - Skate up -- have a pizza -- skate back. Not the usual dining experience for your average pizza chain customer. That is, unless you live in Boise and patronize the new Round Table Pizza Restaurant and family entertainment center at the giant Idaho IceWorld skating complex.

The Round Table Pizza restaurant that debuted late last month at Idaho IceWorld is enhanced by spectacular views of an NHL-regulation-sized ice skating rink. With a tip of the hat to its unusual location, the restaurant also incorporates unique features, such as a raised-platform dining area, graduated in a manner similar to "stadium seating," that will give each table a clear view of the skating action.

"Parents can relax in the raised dining room while keeping an eye on their children enjoying themselves on the rink," notes Bill Foley, vice president, corporate units, for Round Table Franchise Corporation, the franchisor of the Round Table Pizza brand. "We've taken extra care to provide a fun, family-oriented environment that takes full advantage of the unique entertainment opportunities offered by the location."

In certain areas of the restaurant, he adds, chairs and a special rubber-mat type of flooring are "skate-friendly", so that patrons can literally walk in on their skates and feast on Round Table's famous, high-quality pizza without removing their cumbersome blades.

Round Table provides dine-in, carry-out and delivery options at the skating complex.

Fun for Kids: 600-Square-Foot Play Area

The restaurant covers nearly twice the area of a typical Round Table full-service restaurant, with seating for about 150 guests. This includes a private banquet/team room for group events. Also included is a 600-square-foot play area for smaller children and a separate video arcade for older kids, making Round Table's Idaho IceWorld location a family entertainment center as well as a full-service pizza restaurant.

Round Table will also offer catering services to the Idaho IceWorld complex's 6,000 square feet of meeting space.

Two More Restaurants Planned for Boise; Round Table Growing in Other States

The Idaho IceWorld location marks the fourth Round Table Pizza restaurant to open in the Boise area since September 1998, for operation by Round Table franchise Corp.'s corporate store affiliate, Round Table Development Company.

"We're enthusiastic about Idaho as a place to grow our system," says Robert McCourt, senior vice president, development and chief financial officer for Round Table Franchise Corp. Round Table is making a commitment to development in the Boise area, just as it is also growing in other states, adds McCourt, noting that the company is scheduled to open two more restaurants in Boise by this summer.

A West Coast institution celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, Round Table recently embarked on an aggressive plan to expand outside of its traditional regional strongholds. In the past 24 months, the company has signed large area development deals for Las Vegas and Phoenix; added to its growing list of quality "non-traditional" locations; and introduced a new Franchise Opportunity for Delivery/Carry-out Only Units (DCUs) to complement Round Table's traditional full-service restaurants.
