Oreck Corporation's history is akin to the American dream. David Oreck, at age 40, founded Oreck Corporation in 1963 at Rockefeller Center in New York City, with one product: an 8 lb. upright vacuum cleaner. Oreck began manufacturing vacuums in the United States in 1979 and continues to do so today in Cookeville, Tennessee. Oreck quickly expanded beyond upright vacuum cleaners, becoming one of the leaders in home cleaning solutions by adding canisters and handheld vacuums as well as air purifiers, multi-purpose floor cleaning machines, a full line of cleaning products and a wide range of small appliances. Today, Oreck has over 440 Clean Home Centers across the country.
